One thing we get asked over and over again is what do you mean by “ethical”?
It’s a great question, because we chose as our brand and our URL a very subjective term; it could mean something else for everyone.
There are hundreds of books about ethics, and many different schools of thought, but at ethical.net we’re doing our best to avoid being dogmatic and we consider ethical as going in the direction of harmony with other people, animals, and the rest of the natural world.
We believe that the most useful kind of ethics are applied ethics : spontaneous decisions in-line with our deep aspirations, rather than with some set of purely intellectual rules.
Here are some other words that we feel might as well define what we’re championing here as ethical :
sustainable
mindful
kind
joyful
transparent
enough
caring
cooperative
generous
humane
friendly
open
understanding
regenerative
sharing
peaceful
honest
considerate
green
community-oriented
thoughtful
purposeful
conscious
slow
collaborative
Feel free to join the conversation and share what you feel about this approach. Can you help us expand our ethical horizon?
